Zero Invasive Predators (ZIP) is seeking a GIS Data Analyst to join our growing tīma in a permanent, full-time capacity.

The role will be based in our Lincoln office, with opportunities to travel and work in beautiful and remote places in the South Island.

About ZIP

At ZIP, our mission is to protect native taonga and restore te taiao (nature) by removing invasive predators across mainland Aotearoa.

Zero Invasive Predators Ltd (ZIP) is a not-for-profit organisation established in 2015 by the NEXT Foundation and the Department of Conservation. We’re working to adapt and refine predator elimination approaches to completely remove predators within the context of three landscape scale projects; Predator Free South Westland project, Te Manahuna Aoraki Project and Predator Free Rakiura. Outside of these field sites, we also have a Predator Behaviour Facility based at Lincoln University in Christchurch, and an office in Wellington.

The role

To effectively carry out and manage this mahi we rely on aerial tools supported by precise and well-designed operations. As we expand predator elimination across larger landscapes, we require accurate, scalable and efficient systems to support this and the associated growth of data.

The ongoing management and development of our GIS systems and processes, ensuring they are accurate and easily accessible, is essential to our ongoing success.

With the expansion of our work programs, we require additional capacity to:

  • Provide GIS support for the design and implementation of aerial and ground-based operations.

  • Support the development, refinement and maintenance of ZIP’s geospatial systems and processes.

  • Maintain spatial data to ensure integrity, completeness and accuracy.

  • Produce geospatial outputs including maps to support analysis of trial results, communicate progress, and support decision making across our projects.

  • Support the ZIP tīma to upskill and build efficiency using geospatial software and data
