Why work at ZIP?

At ZIP, people are at the heart of everything we do: our team, our partners, and the communities we serve. We're driven by a shared conservation mission and a deep commitment to enabling nature and communities to thrive, across Aotearoa—but it's how we work together that sets us apart.

Over the last ten years we’ve worked hard to develop and sustain a strong workplace culture. We prioritise wellbeing, health and safety, and foster a workplace where you can thrive personally and professionally. Open communication, shared ownership, autonomy and mutual support are part of our daily rhythm. We are a whānau, and we're not one of those companies who just says we are.

Joining ZIP means becoming part of a caring and connected team where we celebrate innovation and empower each other to tackle challenges head-on. We’re proud to nurture strong internal connections and lasting partnerships, because we know collaboration is key to achieving real impact.

If you're looking for a meaningful role in conservation where your voice matters and your wellbeing is supported, we’d love to hear from you. Check out our current vacancies below—and if the role you’re looking for isn’t listed, feel free to get in touch with us directly at careers@zip.org.nz

Our teams

ZIP offers a diverse range of roles, from boots-on-the-ground fieldwork to strategic and technical leadership, all contributing to our mission to make Aotearoa predator-free. Whatever your area of expertise, if you’re aligned with our values and committed to conservation, we’d love to hear from you.

Field Roles

Our rangers, field team leaders and support crews work directly in the landscapes we protect—often in remote, rugged (and spectacular) locations. These roles involve:

  • Predator detection and elimination

  • Maintaining trap networks and infrastructure

  • Using technology and field data to improve outcomes

  • Supporting each other through physically and mentally demanding work

Planning and Technical Roles

ZIP also relies on a wide range of specialists who lead planning, innovation and coordination behind the scenes. These include roles in:

  • Predator ecology, research and data analysis

  • Innovation and tool development

  • IT and Digital Support

  • Aerial operations planning and logistics

  • Project advisory and delivery

  • Finance, people, and organisational support

  • Communications and engagement
