Innovation Director
The son of conservation legend Brian Bell, Phil has been involved in conservation in one form or another since before he could walk. Originally seconded from DOC, Phil brought with him his extensive experience and knowledge of pest eradication methodology.
Phil is based in Wellington, where he oversees ZIP’s research and development portfolio. He helps guide the strategic direction of our programme of work, ensuring we are continuously chasing the projects that could make the biggest difference to how we might achieve predator freedom. Phil keeps many of our partners connected to our work, with direct responsibility for looking after those relationships. While he doesn't get there as much as he'd like, Phil uses his time at ZIP’s field sites to get away from his computer and experience the challenges of the moment.
Phil is a huge football fan, following teams in most major leagues around the world. Being from Wellington, he loves nothing more than finding a good coffee (and a brioche to share with his daughter and son) or a craft beer.
