Field Ranger

Cameron developed a love for field work while studying at university in the United States. He earned a Bachelor’s and subsequent Master’s degree in Biology, focusing on animal behaviour and island biogeography. After completing his formal education, he worked for multiple state and federal wildlife management agencies around North America. His work has covered a broad spectrum of species and landscapes, ranging from salamanders in the alpine to brown bears in the rainforest.

He came to New Zealand to work as part of the DOC Biodiversity Monitoring Team in 2018, and began work with ZIP in 2020. He has really come to appreciate the challenges and beauty of the NZ backcountry and enjoys spending time in the bush.

In his free time, Cameron enjoys eating good food and finding interesting ways to acquire it.
