Field Ranger

Alex completed her Bachelors degree in Environmental Science in her home country, Australia.

After returning from a solid 8 months of travelling and wondering where to go next in life, she went out on a limb and applied for a job in New Zealand. A month later she arrived in New Zealand for the first time to work on a summer contract for DOC on the Hen and Chicken Islands. Alex followed this up with a stint on Raoul Island as a weed control ranger.

Alex has totally fallen in love with New Zealand, and two years later she knows coming to New Zealand was the best decision she’s ever made!

She loves being able to explore New Zealand’s beautiful natural environments and still has to pinch herself every day at work with ZIP that she is getting paid for that privilege! Having also been constantly on the move for the past three years (aside from her 6-month stint on Raoul), she is excited to have a place to call her own and really get involved in the ZIP project.

In her spare time Alex loves to get out on the water and catch a wave or two, enjoy a new cider, maybe go for a tramp and take some photos.
