Department of Conservation Senior Liaison
Mike Slater is the Deputy Director General of Operations for Department of Conservation (DOC), leading the delivery of the Department’s national conservation operations.
Mike has more than 40 years’ public sector agency experience in conservation management, including 20 years managing the West Coast Region for DOC, with considerable background experience in pest management.
He has a strong interest in the outdoors both as a recreationist (climbing/ tramping/ skiing) and as an advocate for community involvement in the protection of the wonderful biodiversity and natural values that make this country unique.
Mike is excited by the potential ZIP has to both integrate existing and develop new techniques and pest management approaches to enable the vision of a pest free New Zealand.
